Helping members run their schemes, January 2026 Update

We have plenty of performance indicators and monthly reports at Pensions UK, but I’ve developed a new one this week – the number of members and senior policy-makers I see cramming into our modestly-sized Reception area en route to the next roundtable session in our boardroom.

According to this rather rough-and-ready metric, our Policy engagement has started 2026 off the charts. This week alone our Policy team has hosted:

• On Monday, a session with Pensions Minister Torsten Bell and schemes involved in the Pound for Pound (£4£) trial that is paving the way for the incoming Value for Money regime. Officials from DWP, TPR and FCA also attended.
• On Tuesday, a ‘Senior Stakeholder Roundtable’ with TPR CEO Nausicaa Delfas and her team to discuss the regulations emerging from the Pension Schemes Bill across DB and DC.
• Also on Tuesday, a meeting with the National Wealth Fund to discuss investment and growth opportunities. It’s been great to see the office so busy, but even better to see our members, Policy team and policy-makers tackling challenges together.
