Pensions UK has submitted a response to the Government’s Third State Pension Age review.
In our response, we stress the importance of a State Pension system that is fair, adequate, and sustainable for current and future generations. We highlight the importance healthy life expectancy when considering any changes to the State Pension Age, the need to communicate any changes to the State Pension Age to savers clearly and well in advance, and note that a broader policy review of the State Pension system – beyond just the State Pension Age – may be required.
Pensions UK also acknowledges the importance of the Triple Lock; however, calls for transitioning the Triple Lock to a more sustainable uprating mechanism, once a baseline poverty prevention level is achieved.
